Our founder, Shaz, promotes the design of exquisite and exceptional gemstone jewellery. Being the second generation of his family to work in gemstone sourcing and mining in his native Sri Lanka, he has developed an unrivalled craftmanship and eye for rare and beautiful gemstones.

Having taken his experience and knowledge of precious gemstone sourcing to work for some of the world’s most renowned luxury jewellery houses - including in Hong Kong, Japan, and Sri Lanka -Shaz moved to London and opened Gemdaia.

A boutique jewellery brand focusing on crafting unique and sustainably sourced fine jewellery, most of the precious gemstones used in Gemdaia’s designs still originate from Sri Lanka - where some of the world’s finest and rarest sapphires are mined to this day.

Every Gemdaia gemstone that is sold has been hand selected by Shaz, using the same skills and expertise to source and quality check each piece that he applied in his work for the global luxury jewellery houses.

By cutting out middlemen and pulling from Shaz’s vast pool of skills and global supplier relationships, Gemdaia can bring affordable yet luxury fine jewellery to the market. Encapsulating our brand’s mission, we price our pieces fairly – helping you to look as good as you feel and feel as good as you look.

At the core of what we do, Shaz remains passionate about ensuring his clients are knowledgeable on the journey their gemstones have taken from mine to market. Especially enjoying commissioning bespoke requests, for occasions such as an engagement – being involved in the process from the sourcing of the gemstones, right through to the design of the finished piece.
